Dollar Value -- It’s all in the Value

• Emotional value

I deserve it
I love shopping for myself
I have worked hard this week
I have had a bad day
I always buy for someone else instead

•Perceived value

It doesn’t look like it should be that expensive.
It is only juice, it can’t be that potent
Other juices don’t cost that much
Size of bottle or box
Compared to what you have gotten in the past
Compared to what your folks told you
Compared to your budget
Compared to your likes and dislikes
Compared to your druthers (you would rather get a
lottery ticket)

•Peer value (Someone of equal status or better that you look up to that
you believe has good judgement)

Susie bought this brand
TV tells me that I will be more popular
My family or friends don’t approve of my choice
EVERYBODY is buying it?

•Comparative value (To similar product or perceived similarity)

I can buy twice as many ounces of another brand for the
same price
Similar product has a lot of value, but not same value
I have always used this other brand in the past
My folks always used this other brand.
If I choose this product will I get more value for the
same price
If I choose this product will I get more value for a
little higher price.
